Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about appointments, boarding, grooming, dog training, pet travel, delivery, payments and membership. Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp any time.

Appointments & Visits

How do I book an appointment?

You can book on this website or message us on WhatsApp (+974 3377 5877) — tell us your pet, the service and a preferred time, and we’ll confirm your slot. We welcome both appointments and walk-ins.

Do you accept walk-ins or only appointments?

Both. You’re welcome to walk in, though booking ahead means a shorter wait.

Do you offer emergency or after-hours care?

Yes — emergency and urgent care is available, usually after hours and mainly for animals already boarding or hospitalised with us. An after-hours vet is available subject to availability, with an additional surcharge. For anything urgent, call us on +974 4441 1866.

Can I have an online vet consultation?

Yes. You accept our terms, pay online, and the system books your next available consultation slot automatically.

Do you pick up and drop off my pet?

Yes — pick-and-drop is available for all our services, from grooming to boarding to the clinic.

Boarding — Pet Hotel

Do you board both dogs and cats?

Yes — our pet hotel boards dogs and cats in comfortable, climate-controlled kennels and a separate cattery. Availability is based on real capacity, so we’ll always tell you honestly whether we have room for your dates.

What does my pet need before boarding?

Every boarding pet must be at least 4 months old, microchipped, treated for ticks, fleas and parasites, and up to date on vaccinations — for cats: feline vaccination and rabies; for dogs: kennel cough, DHPPI and rabies — with no other medical conditions. A pre-boarding check-up (QAR 100) confirms your pet is fit to stay. These are Ministry of Municipality (Department of Animal Resources) requirements, not just ours.

What are your boarding rates?

Dogs from QAR 130 per night and cats from QAR 60 per night, with lower nightly rates for longer stays. Peak weeks such as Eid and summer fill first, so book early.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is anytime from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and check-out is by 11:30am. Hotel boarding is charged per calendar day, so any check-in counts as one full day.

Can I bring my pet’s own food?

We provide Hill’s food. You’re welcome to bring your own for a special dietary preference, or ask us in advance to order and store it for a small surcharge.

Do you offer daycare?

Daycare — an open, social setting (under 10 hours, not in a kennel) for dogs used to being around others — is coming soon. Ask us and we’ll let you know as it launches.

Grooming

Which pets do you groom?

We groom all cats and dogs of every size and coat type, on premises — from a quick wash and nail trim to a full groom and de-shedding.

Do you sedate pets for grooming?

Very rarely, and only in exceptional cases — and only with the owner’s, guardian’s or handler’s consent. A sedation charge applies. It is never a routine part of grooming.

Dog Training — The Dog School

How does dog training start?

Every journey begins with a Discovery Session (25–30 minutes, QAR 200) — a 360° get-to-know covering your dog, you, your goals and your home situation — so we can recommend the right plan.

How is training delivered?

Two ways: online sessions with an expert (great if you want to understand and be hands-on yourself), and on-premises at our Dog School. We do not offer off-site or at-home training.

What method and areas do you cover?

We use positive-reinforcement, proactive learning — imprinting routines, rehearsals and acclimatising your dog to real-life scenarios. We cover foundation, obedience, dog sports, and behaviour management and modification.

What makes Dragon’s Dog School special?

Dragon Animal Care Center is the first professional dog training center in Qatar open to the public, and has handled the full range of training cases.

Pet Travel & Relocation

How does pet travel and relocation work?

We manage the whole process except the flight itself — a veterinary health certificate from our licensed vet, export/import permits, the pet passport, the rabies (RAT) blood test, medical clearances, and airport handling, to and from Qatar. We can also supply the right crate, leash, harness and food, microchip and vaccinate, and board your pet around your travel dates.

How does the rabies (RAT) test work?

We collect your pet’s blood sample here in Qatar and send it to a world-recognised laboratory. The result must be from an accredited lab, taken between 3 and 12 months before entry, above 0.5 IU/ml — and if your pet isn’t currently rabies-vaccinated, there’s a 30-day wait after vaccination before the test.

How long are the travel documents valid?

As a general guide, the veterinary health certificate is valid around 15 days from issue and the import permit around 30 days — we time everything to your travel date and confirm the exact requirements for your destination.

What if there are restrictions for my destination?

Some destinations have restrictions — we’re happy to liaise with the authorities on your behalf and work towards exemptions where possible.

Delivery & Shop

Do you deliver food and supplies?

Yes — across Doha, same day where possible, otherwise next day. Delivery is free for orders over QAR 150, and a flat QAR 20 below that (add a little more to reach free delivery). Members enjoy free delivery on every order. You’ll also find us on Snoonu, Talabat and Rafeeq.

What brands do you carry?

Every product is chosen and vetted by our team. Dragon is the official sole distributor in Qatar of My Family (Italy) and Happy Dog & Happy Cat (Germany), among other carefully selected brands.

Payments

How can I pay?

You can pay at the clinic by card or cash, by bank transfer to our QNB account, or on delivery via our driver’s card terminal. Online payment is being added soon.

Membership & Hero’s Program

How does membership work?

Our annual memberships (Economy, Gold and Platinum) give you priority — early reservations and priority holds — plus free delivery on every order. Membership applies to your pet: one base animal is covered, with a surcharge for additional animals. Richer tier benefits are on the way.

What is the Hero’s Program?

The Hero’s Program supports rescuers, TNR volunteers and animal philanthropists. You don’t need to be a group — we issue a Hero’s account to individuals holding a valid Qatar ID with more than 6 months’ validity. It gives 15% off veterinary services and 15% off selected products.

Do you have corporate programs?

Yes — Dragon runs corporate programs with a number of organisations, offering corporate discounts. Get in touch and we’ll set one up for your team.

Hours, Location & Languages

What are your opening hours?

We’re open every day from 8:00am to 10:00pm, with a short Friday prayer break of about 90 minutes (roughly 11:30am to 1:00pm).

Where are you located?

Dragon Animal Care Center, Building 4, Ain Bin Bahar Street 964, Zone 31, Al Duhail South, Umm Lekhba, Doha, Qatar. Call +974 4441 1866 or WhatsApp +974 3377 5877.

What languages does your team speak?

We serve customers in English, Arabic, Filipino/Tagalog, Hindi and Urdu — we’re proudly expat-friendly and have a large, growing local Qatari client base too.

Which animals do you treat?

Dogs and cats are our core. We also occasionally treat rabbits, guinea pigs and parrots. (Boarding is for dogs and cats only.)

Why Dragon

What makes Dragon different?

Dragon is Qatar’s first all-in-one animal care center — vet clinic, pet hotel, Dog School, grooming, pet travel, pharmacy and shop in one place in Al Duhail South, run by people who already know your pet. We were the first professional dog training center open to the public and the first in Qatar to display public price lists.

Is Dragon licensed?

Yes — Dragon Animal Care Center is a licensed, Qatari-registered business established in 2016, with licensed veterinarians on staff since early 2018, operating in line with the Ministry of Municipality (Department of Animal Resources).
