What is Microchip? –
A microchip is a permanent method of electronic identification. The chip is very small – about the size of a grain of rice – and is implanted under the skin between at the back of pet’s neck.
Each chip has a unique number that is detected using a microchip scanner.
Why should I have my animal’s micro-chipped?
The best reason to have your animal’s micro-chipped is the improved chance that you’ll get your animal back if it becomes lost or stolen.
How does a microchip help reunite a lost animal with its owner?
When an animal is found and taken to a veterinary clinic, one of the first things we do is scan the animal for a microchip. If we find a microchip, and if the microchip registry has accurate information, we can quickly find the animal’s owner.
If you want to get you pet micro-chipped you should visit your Veterinarian.
In order to “maintain” you pet’s microchip there are three things you need to do:
- make sure the microchip is registered in the Microchip Data Base in Qatar https://www.petsafeqatar.com/
2) Ask the veterinarian to scan your pet’s microchip at least once per year to make sure the microchip is still functioning and can be detected;
3) keep your registration information up-to-date
